Speeding Points for CDL Drivers in Tennessee
Tennessee Traffic Citation Attorneys understand how important a clean driving record can be for commercial drivers. A speeding ticket or moving traffic violation causes headaches for you if you have a CDL. Commercial drivers often travel throughout many states a great distance away from his or her home state. Your job route may not enable you to return to the jurisdiction that issued the citation in order for you to fight the ticket on your own.

If you are indeed convicted of a speeding ticket or moving violation, your employment may be adversely affected. Recent changes in federal law make road violations for commercial drivers more serious now than in the past. Some employers have a no tolerance policy for speeding tickets and moving violations received by their employees. Other employers have stricter rules for their commercial drivers than mandated by the federal government.
All states have different rules pertaining to how a speeding ticket affects your driving record. The Tennessee Department of Safety established The Driver Improvement Section to monitor the driving records of Tennessee drivers. Adult Drivers start out with twelve points on their license in Tennessee. If a Tennessee driver accumulates twelve or more points on his driving record within any one-year period, then his license is subject to suspension.
